WEDNESDAY 20 FEBRUARY 11.45 – 12.00pm

SPEAKER: Christopher Lamb, Ambassador to Myanmar (Retired)

SUBJECT: The Rohingya Crisis in Myanmar

The Rohingya crisis has, since August 2017, seen over 720,000 people flee from violence in Myanmar’s Rakhine State into Bangladesh.

Graphic reporting by non-governmental agencies and a United Nations Human Rights Council has generated momentum for some Myanmar

military leaders to be brought to international criminal prosecution.

Christopher Lamb will explore the background to the crisis and various solutions put forward,

and consider the impact of the crisis on the reputation of Myanmar’s leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.
