The most exciting development of our building project so far has been the return to our Ridgway Place Clubhouse which took place early in July. This move signified the completion of Stage One of our Three Stage Building Plan. Stage One involved installation of the new lift, and meeting many compliance regulations.
While the Club was completely closed to members we were fortunate to be able to occupy the Pei Modern site in Collins Place, and it became ‘home’ for six months from early January. It was lovely to see so many members enjoying the temporary space. Our builders and staff worked very hard – day, night and weekends, to have the first floor of Ridgway Place ready to occupy in time for the first scheduled Art Advisory exhibition opening on 6 July, and the President’s Dinner the following night. Our Certificate of Occupancy was issued just in time! I sincerely thank our General Manager Peter Stratton, and everyone who kept the Club running so smoothly as we transitioned from one side of Collins Street to the other- and back again!
None of this could have happened without you, the Convenors and members, who have given so much support and encouragement to the Club and its activities during the past year. You are the strength of the Club.
Please have a look at our website for the most recent views of the new floor and associated building activity. I am sure you will be impressed by the progress being made. We hope the work will be complete early in the new year.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact me, the General Manager Peter Stratton, or any member of the Board if you would like to discuss these matters.
